what you need to know...
CLARITY II laser hair removal is a dual-wavelength laser, Alexandrite and ND: YAG, enabling indications such as unwanted hair and vascular lesions to be treated safely and effectively on all phototypes.
This latest-generation laser provides higher pulse energy and power than other lasers, which means shorter, more comfortable sessions.
Light skin and dark hair? opt for alexandrite.
Matt or dark skin? YAG.
What’s new? CLARITY II can be used in both summer and winter.
Laser is a technique that requires several sessions, between 6 and 10 sessions depending on the area and the amount of hair.
Each session treats around 15% of the hair in the area, as the hair needs to be in the growth phase for the laser energy to destroy it at the root.
Clarity II reduces tingling sensations thanks to a system of continuously pulsed cold air. Sessions on the body are spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart, while sessions on the face are best spaced 4 to 5 weeks apart.
The skin is soothed, minimising any sensation of heat or discomfort such as a “rubber band” effect.
Alexandrite will target the melanin contained in the hair bulb, so this wave is suitable for fair skins with dark hair. The hair will fall out within a few days of the session.
ND YAG mainly targets haemoglobin and therefore destroys the blood vessel that irrigates the bulb. The hair will fall out in 3 to 4 weeks, and the technique is just as effective.
This laser wave can also be used to treat vascular lesions on the face, such as erythrosic rosacea, ruby spots or small angiomas.
Length of treatment: the duration varies according to the areas to be treated, but you should generally allow around 30 minutes for bikini line and underarms, and around 1 hour for bikini line, underarms and legs.
Technique: after carefully cleaning the area to be treated, the session can begin.
The patient may feel a slight discomfort, which is well tolerated thanks to the pulsed cold air. At the end of the session, a repair cream is applied to the area.
The sessions are carried out by nurses, laserist assistants and then under the supervision of one of the centre’s doctors.
Permanent hair removal can be started from the age of 18 to 20, at the end of puberty.
It is possible to start earlier, but results will be limited over time due to hormonal variations.
At the end of the session, a slight “mosquito bite”-like swelling around the follicles is often observed.
As the sessions progress, the number and diameter of hairs diminish.
This treatment is ideal for ingrown hairs as it allows them to disappear.
Sometimes an annual maintenance session is possible for stubborn hairs, particularly before the summer season.
This is a permanent hair removal technique, although a few fine hairs will remain once the sessions are over. An electric hair removal finish (thermolysis) can be carried out on hairs at the end of the treatment, white, blond, red or fine hairs that cannot be treated with laser.
